Electronic Waste Recycling

In January 2007 the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) was introduced. This is to encourage the recycling and reuse of electrical waste, making it illegal to send to landfill.

When electronic items are removed for recycling it must be accompanied by a consignment note. ASH Waste services are able to provide a consignment note when we remove any electrical waste from your site.

What is WEEE?

The vast majority of businesses or household products that use a plug or battery are classed as WEEE. The regulations outline 10 main categories:

  • IT equipment
  • Telecoms equipment including tablets
  • Electric and electronic tools
  • Lighting equipment
  • Automatic dispensers
  • Monitoring and control equipment
  • Medical devices
