Electronic Waste Recycling
Since the introduction of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive in 2007, all electrical and electronic items must be reused, recycled, or recovered wherever possible. Sending electrical waste to landfill is illegal, and businesses are required by law to ensure full compliance with these regulations.
At ASH Waste Services, we provide a safe, fully compliant and hassle-free solution for electronic waste disposal, WEEE collection, and secure data destruction for businesses across the region.
Whether you operate a single office, retail store, commercial site or multi-location business, we help you manage your electronic waste responsibly, with the documentation, traceability and recycling standards required by UK legislation.

What Is WEEE Waste?
WEEE covers almost any item powered by a plug, battery, or charger. If it uses electricity, it is classed as WEEE at the end of its life. The regulations group electrical waste into 10 main categories, including:
- IT & Telecommunications Equipment – Computers, laptops, monitors, printers, servers, networking equipment, tablets, phones, routers.
- Consumer Electronics – Radios, speakers, TVs, DVD/Blue-ray players, audio systems.
- Electrical & Electronic Tools – Power tools, drills, saws, gardening equipment, workshop tools.
- Lighting Equipment – Fluorescent tubes, LED lighting, bulbs, lamps, commercial light fittings.
- Monitoring & Control Equipment – Thermostats, sensors, alarms, building management systems.
- Medical Devices – Non-infectious medical equipment (where permitted by regulation).
- Automatic Dispensers – Vending machines, water coolers, automated dispensing units.
- Small Domestic Appliances – Kettles, toasters, vacuum cleaners, heaters, fans, microwaves.
- Large Household Appliances – Fridges, freezers, ovens (subject to collection requirements).
- Toys, Leisure & Sports Equipment – Electronic toys, fitness equipment, gaming devices.
If your business produces any of the above, you are legally responsible for ensuring the correct WEEE disposal route is used.
